Found an Injured or Orphaned Wild Animal?

Wildlife rehabilitation requires specialized knowledge and permits. Please do not attempt to care for wild animals yourself — contact a licensed rehabilitator immediately.

What To Do

1

Stay calm and keep your distance. Wild animals can be dangerous and carry disease. Do not handle them with bare hands.

2

Visit the CT DEEP website for guidance specific to the species you found and to locate a licensed wildlife rehabilitator near you.

3

Contact Stratford Animal Control at 225 Beacon Point Road if you need immediate assistance with wildlife in distress.

4

Do not give food or water to injured wildlife — the wrong diet can be fatal. Leave care to the professionals.
